History up close: Excursion to the Austrian State and War Archive Vienna

Excursion: Visit to the Austrian State Archive and War Archive in Vienna. Dive into the fascinating world of history and archiving! During this comprehensive and exclusive excursion, you will gain unique insights into two of Austria’s most significant archival institutions: the Austrian State Archive and the War Archive in Vienna. Together with Johannes Lebitsch, administrator of "Alte Ansichten von Klagenfurt" and genealogist, you will first visit the Austrian State Archive. There, you will learn, through selected exhibits, how historical documents are preserved, researched, and made accessible to the public. After a lunch break, the excursion continues to the War Archive, which focuses on Austria’s military history and houses a wealth of unique sources and materials, particularly related to the k.u.k. Army. Note on travel: Travel to Vienna must be planned independently, is individual, and is not part of the organised excursion.
